Longwe Twala and Sello Twala, sons of the renowned musician and producer Sello Chicco Twala, were apprehended over the weekend for theft, as confirmed by their father on Monday.
Reports suggest that the brothers broke into their father’s studio while under the influence of drugs and made away with equipment valued at thousands of rand. A report has been filed at the Douglasdale police station.
“Yes, I can confirm that while I was in the USA, my sons Longwe and Sello colluded to steal my studio equipment,” Chicco stated.
He explained that Longwe, who he had previously expelled from his home due to his struggles with addiction, allegedly scaled the high walls to access the studio.
The brothers are set to appear in court on Tuesday.
Chicco revealed that Longwe and his younger brother had been stealing from him for an extended period, prompting him to take a stand.
In January 2020, Longwe faced arrest for theft after allegedly taking a cellphone.
A video surfaced on social media, reportedly showing Chicco taking Longwe to the Diepkloof police station in Soweto.
Authorities were not available for immediate comment.
